FAQs

Whether you’ve attended many virtual conferences before or this is your first one, you might have some questions about how it works. Here are your answers.

Where does Learning • Technology • Design 2017 take place?

LTD 2017 (held entirely online) has concluded. Get notified when registration opens for LTD 2018.

Who should participate?

Learning • Technology • Design is for anyone who works in the business of lifelong learning, continuing education, and professional development and who wants to find better ways to engage learners and create lasting impact through the effective use of technology. The content is most suited for individuals at an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge when it comes to the use of technology to enable and enhance learning. While we do not necessarily discourage beginners from purchasing access to the recordings, we did not cover basic terminology (e.g., learning content management system or SCORM) or concepts (e.g., hybrid events or blended learning) during the sessions.

What types of sessions are included?

The conference includes general opening and closing sessions and concurrent breakout sessions. A virtual exhibit hall is also be available. See the Program section of the site for more information about the topics covered in the sessions.

  • General sessions: General sessions feature live-streaming broadcasts. You see the speakers and their slides. Sound is projected through your computer’s speakers (or through a sound system in your conference room should there be a number of participants). If attending the session live, you have opportunities to pose questions and make comments to the presenters via a chat feature.
  • Concurrent breakout sessions: Concurrent sessions feature speakers from across the country who present from their own offices or organizations. Concurrent sessions are provided through a Webinar format; you see slides and hear the speaker’s voice through your computer’s speakers (or through a sound system in your conference room should there be a number of participants). You do not see the speaker(s). If attending live, the sessions include interactive features such as polling questions, question and answer periods, and provide opportunities to interact with other participants via a chat feature.
  • Exhibit hall: The exhibit hall features booths where participating companies can share resources about their learning products and services and connect with the conference attendees. In addition to a virtual exhibit booth, participating companies also offer short demonstrations of their platforms or products. The virtual exhibit hall is an important way in which LTD delivers on the goal of helping conference attendees find new and better ways to engage learners and create lasting impact through the effective use of technology.
